Alstonville is fast becoming one of the most popular addresses on the Northern Rivers.
The small town has long been popular for its historic charm, but the recent construction of a bypass has created an expectation that it will evolve to rival Bangalow and Brunswick Heads as tourist destinations.
The town has its own shopping centre, complete with a Coles supermarket, a greengrocer’s store and butchers as well as a mix of specialty stores. The main street is a superb shopping strip, dominated by unique specialty stores and popular restaurants and cafes, including the lovely Federal Hotel.
The town has a large and highly regarded private medical centre, private and public primary schools and a high school. The Alstonville Public School is highly regarded for its gifted children program.
The town is also known for the Summerland House with No Steps, which was set up to help provide employment for people with a disability and has developed into a popular tourist attraction in its own right.
