Lismore Business SOS
It has been just over two and a half years since the most recent Lismore flood. Businesses and families were affected by this significant weather event – many still are feeling the pinch even now.
But Lismore is resilient – we have been through it before, and more than likely, we will go through it again. I was heart warmed by the way Lismore pulled together at this time to push through the cleanup, giving unwanted items to those that needed them, and lending a helping hand to anyone in need.
The LCCI won the Resilient Australia Business Award for its exemplary leadership, advocacy and support for their business community in the aftermath of the Northern Rivers floods.
In the time that has passed since then, the Lismore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) have been working hard in the background to create the Lismore Business SOS.
The Lismore Business SOS is an online portal that pulls together information, such as weather warnings and road closures, from multiple reputable sources including the SES, Richmond Police Force, The LCCI and more. This gives the local business community one reliable place to go to for their emergency warnings in times of need.
Katrina Behom Real Estate was lucky in 2017, with only our flooring and some furniture affected at the time, however many other local businesses, as well as friends, family and clients, were struck by this disaster. We, as a business, have taken a small, easy step. We have registered ourselves on the portal to help us prepare when another severe weather event happens in our community.
You can visit www.lismorebusinesssos.com.au and register your business too. Another way Lismore locals are helping Lismore locals.
